Before we begin this Seychelles itinerary, let’s find out where the heck these islands are located. The Seychelles are an archipelago, a tapestry of 115 islands, in the Indian Ocean’s crystal clear blue waters. Seychelles Itinerary Day 1: Explore Mahe
Visit The Capital, Victoria
Start your Seychelles one-week itinerary in Victoria. Located in Mahe, Victoria is one of the world’s tiniest capitals. It’s so nice strolling through its lively streets, where the Seychellois rhythm of life unfolds. A few things not to miss are the colonial architecture, street markets, and the iconic clock tower. It’s a mini-replica of London’s Big Ben, standing amidst the hustle and bustle.
Ride Down Sans Souci
During your visit to Mahe, take a thrilling ride down Sans Souci Road. It’s a beautiful drive through a lush mountain pass. Each turn has beautiful views of Mahe’s emerald-coated hills and the azure ocean beyond. It’s a route that shouldn’t be missed while visiting the Seychelles.
Hike Copolia
Grab your hiking boots for the Copolia hike, a trail that promises an invigorating ascent through the Morne Seychellois National Park. It’s a path that winds through dense, green canopies and granite boulders, leading you to a summit with a rewarding panorama. Watch out as you may have to catch your breath as you gaze over the island.
Seychelles Tea Factory
Next, let the aroma of the Seyte Tea Factory lure you in for a visit. This plantation is a serene and informative retreat. Here you will not only sample tea, but you will learn about the tea-making process as well.
Visit Baie Ternay
Conclude your first day of this Seychelles itinerary at Baie Ternay, Mahe’s often overlooked yet utterly captivating corner. You can reach this marine park by a guided boat tour. We enjoyed the white sandy beaches here. It is a scuba diver’s dream with all the marine life. There are so many coral reefs with marine life and fish darting through the water.

Itinerary for Seychelles Day 2: Explore Mahe – A Beach Odyssey
Baie Lazare
Time to start the morning at Baie Lazare, a beach named after the 18th-century French explorer. We enjoyed this beach for our leisurely swims and walking in the soft sand. Baie Lazare is a picturesque beach with lush hills and clear waters.
Anse Intendance
Off to Anse Intendance which is a well-known beach to visit in Mahe. Here you will find it’s a stunning stretch of white sand bordered by rolling waves, granite formations, and palm trees. There are plenty of palm trees here in case the sun gets intense, just be sure to watch out for falling coconuts.
Anse Royale
Another beach deserving of a visit is the calm waters of Anse Royale. Snorkel in the vibrant coral reef and you will enjoy all the marine life. After all the snorkeling and walks along the beach, you can grab a bite to eat at the nearby village where you can taste Creole cuisine and mingle with locals.
Beau Vallon
Conclude your visit to Mahe at the island’s most famous beach, Beau Vallon. Water sports lovers can dabble in the water from sports such as jet skiing to parasailing. As the sun sets the promenade comes alive with beachside grills and Creole music. Beau Vallon is where you go to experience the true spirit of Seychelles’ nightlife.
Head To Praslin – Island Tranquility
Take a short ferry ride to Praslin and check in your hotel. After your busy day exploring the beautiful beaches in Mahe, you may be exhausted. Seychelles Itinerary Day 3: Explore Praslin – Nature’s Masterpiece and Serene Shores
Curieuse Island
Begin day 3 of your Seychelles itinerary with a quick day trip to Curieuse Island which is only a short ferry ride from Praslin. We suggest taking a guided tour of this nearby island. This wonderful bio-reserve is home to hundreds of Aldabra giant tortoises. Taking a guided walk through the mangrove forests offers a closer encounter with these magnificent creatures and you will learn about the island’s unique ecosystem.
Vallee de Mai
After your return immerse yourself in the ancient palm forests of Vallee de Mai. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site that feels like a page from a prehistoric era. Home to the legendary coco de mer palm with its uniquely shaped double nut, this valley whispers the secrets of an ancient world.
We suggest taking a leisurely walk along its well-marked trails. Also, be on the lookout for the rare Seychelles black parrot, you may spot one in the lush greenery.
Relax At Anse Lazio
After frolicking around in the palms, head to Anse Lazio, which is one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Here, the powdery white sands are perfect to sink your toes in and have a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters at this beach. Anse Lazio is surrounded by granite boulders, creating secluded spots perfect for sunbathing. Snorkeling is a must-do when at this beach, with vibrant coral reefs just a short swim from the shore.
Head to La Digue
As the afternoon nears, consider taking a ferry ride to La Digue. This island is known for its streets, where bicycles take the place of cars and ox carts are a sight. When approaching by sea you’ll be greeted by views of La Digues coastline for its picturesque beachfront.

Visiting the Seychelles Day 4: Explore La Digue – Beaches and Bicycles
La Digue, the Seychelles’ laid-back island jewel, will make you feel like time stands still. Bicycles are the preferred mode of transport on this island. It’s a place that cherishes simplicity, natural beauty, and a slower pace of life.
Anse Source d’Argent
Begin your exploration at Anse Source d’Argent, one of the most photographed beaches in the world. Its powdery white sands, crystalline waters, and sculptural granite boulders create a setting so surreal it really must be experienced to be believed.
Wander along the shoreline, find your secluded spot, and take a moment to soak in one of the coolest places on earth. The shallow waters here are perfect for relaxing swimming, or snorkeling, where you can observe a ballet of colorful fish among the coral reefs.
Grand Anse
The next stop is Grand Anse, a more untamed beauty that presents a different beach experience. The larger waves here make it a favorite for bodyboarding or simply watching the powerful surf from a safe distance. Grand Anse has an expansive stretch making it ideal for long walks, where the only footprints in the sand might just be your own.
Petite Anse
Just a short trek from Grand Anse lies Petite Anse. This secluded cove is often quieter and offers a sense of privacy and calmness. Here, we enjoyed unwinding under the shade of takamaka trees.
Anse Cocos
If you’re up for a little adventure on this Seychelles itinerary, a hike to Anse Cocos rewards you with a hidden paradise. This remote beach on the eastern side of La Digue is often less visited. Anse Cocos Is a peaceful retreat that has natural pools formed by rock formations, perfect for a refreshing dip.
End your day at La Digue with a slow bike ride back to your lodging, perhaps stopping at a local café to savor fresh seafood or a Creole delicacy.
Seychelles Itinerary Day 5: Explore Desroches – Seclusion and Serenity
Your next stop on this Seychelles itinerary is a coral island with soft sandy beaches and a colorful coral reef system, Desroches. We enjoyed taking a leisurely bike ride along the island’s perimeter to explore. Cycle through paths lead you through lush coconut groves and past stunning beach views. It felt like we were in our very own private paradise.
Experience the beauty of Desroches by taking on a snorkeling or diving adventure, in its waters. The island is dedicated to conservation and has transformed it into a sanctuary. Expect to encounter a multitude of sea creatures, including turtles and vibrant tropical fish.
After an active bike ride, relax at one of the beautiful beaches on Desroches. Desroches’ coastline has hidden coves and beaches like Anse Madge, so you can lounge undisturbed. Well, you may find the occasional curious tortoise.
Day 6 Itinerary For Seychelles: Desroches Immersion in Nature
On your second day in Desroches, we recommend taking a ferry ride to Curieuse Island and visiting the Tortoise Sanctuary run by the Island Conservation Society. This place not only provides knowledge, about tortoises but also an opportunity to interact with these magnificent and gentle creatures. The sanctuary is not just educational but also engaging and will leave you with a lasting impression.
For fishing enthusiasts, Desroches offers some incredible fishing opportunities. Whether you choose a guided fishing trip or an exciting deep-sea fishing adventure it guarantees an exhilarating experience that you will truly relish.
After you return from Curieuse Island we recommend another unique experience in Desroches, visiting the island’s airstrip. It’s something unusual, but oddly captivating to see! We enjoyed seeing the runway cut through the island’s lush interior. It provided a different perspective of this island.
In the evening, have a romantic dinner dining under the stars at one of the island’s restaurants and indulge in fresh, locally sourced cuisine!

Seychelles Itinerary Day 7: Return To Mahe – Culture, Spirits, and Sands
See Craft Village
Begin your day at the Craft Village. Located in the center of Mahe this delightful community provides an insight, into Seychelles’ rich traditions. Take a walk through the restored plantation houses and observe skilled local artisans as they create intricate artworks that embody the essence of their islands. This is an opportunity to admire their craftsmanship and maybe even find a keepsake, such, as vibrant batik fabrics or unique handmade jewelry.
Drink Rum at Takamaka Rum Distillery
A trip, to Mahe wouldn’t be complete without doing a rum tasting at Takamaka Rum Distillery. Although the rum is tasty, be sure to explore its history and grounds. We are also fascinated to learn about rum production, which is deeply rooted in the Seychellois culture.
Of course, the exciting part for us was getting to savor the different types of rums. Each one had its taste that perfectly showcased the spirit of these islands.
Visit the Beaches
Take some time in the afternoon to relax on one of the beaches, along Mahes coastline. We suggest visiting Anse Louis, which was personally one of our spots. It’s a secluded beach where you can rejuvenate after a week of adventures before returning home.
As the evening draws near make your way to Beau Vallon to truly experience the essence of Seychelles. This popular bay offers a taste of island life, with water sports activities and beachside stalls. Don’t miss out on witnessing a sunset before bidding farewell to this place.
Getting Around Between The Seychelles Islands
Air Travel for Swift Island-Hopping
Flying within the Seychelles is an option, for travelers who want to hop between islands quickly. Air Seychelles offers flights between Mahé and Praslin which are the main islands with airports. The short 15-minute flight not only gets you to your destination but also treats you to incredible aerial views that should definitely be on your itinerary for Seychelles.
Ferry Services for Scenic Journeys
When you visit the Seychelles taking a ferry is another option for getting around the islands. Ferries are available for getting around Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue. We enjoyed exploring the archipelago while enjoying the views from the ferry. The dependable ferry services add a touch to your Seychelles trip by seeing the islands from a different perspective on the water.
Chartered Boats for Personalized Exploration
All aboard! Another way you can get around the Seychelle Islands is by chartered boats. It’s ideal for those who don’t have a budget and want to create more of a tailored trip visiting the Seychelles.
For your island-hopping, you can choose a simple sailboat or an extravagant yacht, which allows you to craft an exclusive and personal itinerary for Seychelles.
Helicopter Transfers for a Luxurious Perspective
Looking for a tad bit of luxury? Consider island hopping by helicopter transfers during your travel to the Seychelles. This offers swift and spectacular aerial routes between the islands. Getting Around The Islands
Public Buses
Getting around the islands of Mahé. Praslin is quite convenient, by taking the bus. It’s an option costing 5 SCR. By opting for the bus you’ll have access to stunning beaches and popular attractions. Just remember that buses operate from 5:30 am to 8:30 pm.
Car Rentals
If you prefer flexibility renting a car would be a choice, especially, in Mahé. Keep in mind that driving in Seychelles follows the left-hand side rule and some roads can be narrow. However, having your own car grants you the freedom to explore gems at your own pace while visiting attractions.
Bicycles
In La Digue, bicycles are widely preferred and readily available, for rent making them the popular choice, for transportation. The islands’ smooth terrain and absence of cars contribute to a biking experience.
Ox-Carts
For those seeking a touch of La Digues charm, there is also the option of taking an ox cart ride. Although we didn’t personally try this mode of transportation it offers a way to travel in the Seychelles for shorter distances.
Walking
Walking is naturally the most immersive way to explore, particularly on La Digue and in the smaller areas of Mahé and Praslin. It allows for a slower pace of travel and the opportunity to discover hidden gems that can’t be reached by by car.

What Is The Best Time Of Year To Visit Seychelles?
The Seychelles enjoys a climate all year round. However, the favorable time to visit is, during the shoulder seasons, which are April to May and October to November. During these months the weather is generally tranquil with rainfall.
Moreover, the water conditions are ideal for indulging in swimming and snorkeling activities. These periods also mark the transition between trade winds offering weather, for sunbathing and observing wildlife.
How Many Days Do You Need In Seychelles?
A one-week itinerary for Seychelles is perfect to experience the pace and stunning beauty of the country. We found that seven days provided time to discover the islands immerse ourselves in the local culture and relax on the beautiful beaches. However if you’re interested in exploring islands or taking your time to explore extending your stay to two weeks allows for a connection, with the archipelagos’ numerous hidden gems.
What Is The Safety In The Seychelles
The Seychelles is widely recognized as a travel destination. While it’s important to exercise caution anywhere you visit taking safety measures is advisable. Make sure to keep your belongings secure at all times and be aware of your surroundings. However, this is something that should be followed during all your travels.
Currency in Seychelles
The local currency is the Seychellois Rupee (SCR). Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels and restaurants, but it’s wise to carry some cash for small purchases, especially on the less commercialized islands. Currency exchange is available at airports, banks, and authorized dealers.
Driving in Seychelles
When you drive in Seychelles you have the freedom to explore at your speed. Just remember to drive on the left side of the road. The roads, on Mahé and Praslin are generally kept in good condition although they can be narrow winding and occasionally steep. Renting a car is convenient. It’s important to have a driver’s license. On La Digue bicycles and ox carts are the means of transportation reflecting the rhythm of the island.
