As we mentioned previously, the ABC Caribbean Islands belong to the Kingdom of the Netherlands which goes way back in time since the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1814 to be exact.
This treaty was signed by the Netherlands and the United Kingdom in which the latter gave back a few territories that originally belonged to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
People from Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao have Dutch nationality since the ABC Islands belong to the said country.
Despite that, the ABC Islands in the Caribbean have their own prime minister and parliament except for Bonaire, since it is a municipality of the Netherlands, therefore it is subject to the country’s law.
