The ABC Islands are connected to the Netherlands since they are constituent countries of it. That being said, you will see during your visit how the architecture, food, and language has a huge Dutch influence. As for language, the mother tongue of the ABC Islands is Papiamentu or Papiamento as it is also called. But, you will also hear other languages in the ABC Islands like English and Spanish.

You can easily book a trip to the ABC Islands using Cheap Caribbean. It is the go-to travel agency we use to travel the Caribbean, Mexico, or Central America.

What Country Do The ABC Islands Belong To?

As we mentioned previously, the ABC Caribbean Islands belong to the Kingdom of the Netherlands which goes way back in time since the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1814 to be exact.

This treaty was signed by the Netherlands and the United Kingdom in which the latter gave back a few territories that originally belonged to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

People from Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao have Dutch nationality since the ABC Islands belong to the said country.

Despite that, the ABC Islands in the Caribbean have their own prime minister and parliament except for Bonaire, since it is a municipality of the Netherlands, therefore it is subject to the country’s law.

The ABC Islands Language

There are a variety of languages spoken on the ABC Islands. We’re going to break down each ABC Caribbean island to understand how they communicate with each other and tourists.

Aruba’s official language is Dutch, and the second one is Papiamentu. Papiamentu is a combination of English, Spanish, Dutch and Portuguese. Don’t worry though about communicating, you can find people who speak English, Spanish, and even Portuguese.

Dutch and Papiamentu are the languages of Bonaire and Curaçao also.

Visiting the ABC Islands is not only an incredible and paradisiac adventure but also a culture-enrichment one that will allow you to connect with other cultures.

You need to have a valid email address to be approved for traveling too (since the ED card confirmation will be sent there).
