The Best European Cruise Line To Sail The Mediterranean: Seabourn Cruise Review

Cruises are a great way to explore multiple destinations without the anxiety of constantly getting on and off airplanes, booking different accommodations, and dealing with the constant pack -> unpack dilemma! And when it comes to Europe, I’ve realized that the best way to visit the best European cities possible while relaxing and enjoying your trip is by taking a European summer cruise. This post will spark your interest if you’re looking for a luxury, comfortable, multi-destination trip.

I recently had the chance to embark on the best European cruise line, Seabourn’s Mediterranean cruise, On their Ovation Ship. Seabourne has a fleet of intimate, ultra-luxury ships and is well known to have the hands-down best food on the seven seas. Here’s a day-by-day account of my journey, along with my Seabourn Cruise review on why I would recommend them for your next luxury escape.

Embark In Monte Carlo, Monaco

Monte Carlo Aboard the Seabourne Ovation

This luxury European cruise begins in Monte Carlo, Monaco. It is the perfect starting point for a unique Mediterranean cruise where you’ll see incredible architecture, the world-famous casino, and stunning harbors lined with exclusive yachts.

Day 2: Explore the port of Sorrento, Italy

On day two of this summer European cruise, the ship arrives at Sorrento, a stunning seaside town in outside of Naples and is a popular tourist town. Offering a perfect blend of history and charm, this place is ideal for exploring and the gorgeous cliffside views. I recommend you visit the Hotel De La Syrene for delicious pasta, cocktails classic decor and Mediterranean views.

Be sure to use our Italy captions when visiting Sorrento.

Day 3: Enjoy the Blue Waters in Capri

Continuing with this luxury Mediterranean cruise itinerary, on day three you’ll visit Capri, the jewel of the Amalfi Coast. My favorite thing to do was taking a Capri coast tour around the island. Also, you cannot leave without having a guided walk through the Augustus Gardens and the local museums.

Day 4: Taormina, Sicily

What’s great about Seabourn cruises is that they take you to different cities of the same country, and not just the most famous ones. On day 4, Taormina is on the schedule. Located on the North East coast of Sicily, here you’ll get to see Mount Etna and the ancient town of Taormina. You can take a guided hike to see the volcano or explore the Greco-Roman ruins.

Day 5: Valletta, Malta

Valletta is Malta’s capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With impressive sights like St. John’s Co-Cathedral, and the Grandmaster’s Palace, you’ll easily fall in love with this city. The best part of this Mediterranean Seabourn Cruise itinerary is that you don’t have to worry about doing a lot of traveling by yourself, thus they stop at strategic ports, nearby all the attractions and fun.

Day 7: Mgarr, Malta

The next stop is Mgarr, a small port on the island of Gozo, Malta’s quieter sister island. This place offers a more laid-back and rural atmosphere compared to Valletta, which makes it perfect for those looking to relax and spend some quality time connecting with nature. You can visit the Ggantija Temples, older than the pyramids of Egypt, or enjoy the day on one of the tranquil beaches.

Day 8: At Sea So Recoup for More Adventures

After a few days of non-stop exploration, day eight is a well-deserved day at sea where you’ll get to relax and recharge your batteries before your next adventure. On this morning we took breakfast in our cabin, which was wonderful. Since this is a Seabourn Mediterranean cruise review, some things you can find on board to keep yourself entertained include a spa, cooking classes, and wine tastings.

Day 9: Ajaccio, Corsica

Next on the itinerary is Napoleon Bonaparte’s birthplace, Ajaccio, Corsica. Here you can visit Napoleon’s house-turned-museum or explore the vibrant market squares and local cafes. During our visit we chose to “shop with the chef” as an excursion and learned a lot about their local cuisine… which is delicious! Ajaccio is known for its stunning beaches, so make sure you stop by some.

Day 10: St. Tropez, France

One of my favorite destinations of this Mediterranean Seabourn cruise itinerary is St. Tropez. Known for its stunning beaches and vibrant nightlife, this place will leave you in awe. You can explore the charming old town and see its beautiful pastel-colored buildings, or spend the day lounging at one of the famous beach clubs on Pampelonne Beach.

Day 11: Palamós, Spain

Palamós is a gem on Spain’s Costa Brava with a rich marine history and culinary delights. Here you can spend the day exploring the local markets, visiting the medieval villages nearby, or simply relaxing on one of the pristine beaches.

Be sure to use our Spain captions when exploring this beautiful country.

Day 12: Palma de Mallorca, Balearic Islands

Day twelve brings you to Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic Islands. The narrow streets of the old town are perfect for a leisurely stroll, and you can also explore the island’s hidden beaches or take a boat tour along the coast.

Day 13: At Sea

Your penultimate day is spent at sea, which gives you the perfect opportunity to relax, enjoy the onboard offerings and start packing before the next and last destination.

Day 14: Enjoy the Last Day in Civitavecchia, Italy

The end of our Europe trip itinerary comes to an end in Civitavecchia, the gateway to Rome. If you’re staying a few extra days, this is the perfect opportunity to explore the Eternal City’s legendary landmarks like the Colosseum, Vatican City, and Roman Forum.
